Director of Engineering - Transforming Healthcare Technology

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Director of Engineering to join our team at Garner Health, a company dedicated to transforming the healthcare economy. This Director of Engineering remote position will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and play a crucial role in leading our Search team, which is responsible for our provider recommendations system and AI-powered member support systems.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of a world-class Search system that organizes provider data to deliver relevant and impactful recommendations to our members.
  • Own and drive the execution of quarterly deliverables and long-term strategy for the Search team.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align strategies and achieve company objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to your teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Ensure your team incorporates relevant new technologies, system designs, and strategies, especially in big data, ML, and AI.
  • Influence partner teams to accelerate delivery across the organization.
  • Champion the privacy and security of our users’ data.
  • Mentor, grow, and recruit the next generation of engineering leaders at Garner.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years managing software or data engineering teams.
  • 1+ year managing engineering managers.
  • Experience operating production ML systems for user-facing use cases using modern ML platforms (e.g., SageMaker, Vertex AI).
  • Familiarity with feature engineering technologies and production ML lifecycle.
  • Experience with data engineering concepts supporting ML-powered systems.
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into a clear technical roadmap.
  • Experience working with regulated data; healthcare data standards (HIPAA, EDI) a plus.
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and ensure company success.
