Data Engineer II - Remote Position at Chainalysis

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Engineer II to join our team at Chainalysis. This Data Engineer II remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in the blockchain space. You will be responsible for scaling systems and redesigning existing systems to handle large-scale data, ensuring that our infrastructure can support billions of daily requests.

What You'll Do

• Scale systems and redesign existing systems to handle large-scale data.
• Build ETL data pipelines using technologies such as Databricks, EMR, Athena, and Glue.
• Collaborate with product managers to define system requirements and with UX teams to expose metrics effectively.
• Write solid code to build a 100% cloud-deployed infrastructure capable of self-healing.
• Work with data scientists to enable scalable querying of data assets.
• Integrate with various data vendors to enhance our data assets and products.
• Develop frameworks to simplify future integrations and test the quality of ingested data.
• Participate in design and code review processes to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in data engineering or a closely related position, or a Master’s degree with three (3) years of experience.
• Experience with scalable data processing and ETL pipelines.
• Proficiency in building data pipelines using EMR, Airflow, Athena, Redshift, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Kinesis, Lambda, or Databricks.
• Strong programming skills in Python or SQL.
• Experience implementing observability and monitoring tools such as Humio, Datadog, Amazon CloudWatch, or AWS CloudTrail.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud technologies and services.
• Familiarity with data governance and quality assurance processes.
• Knowledge of blockchain technology and its applications.
