CNC Machinist - Remote Position at BWX Technologies
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled CNC Machinist - Remote to join our team at BWX Technologies. As a CNC Machinist, you will play a crucial role in manufacturing large precision-machined components with tolerances less than 0.0005” using advanced CNC machinery. This position allows you to work remotely while contributing to the production of critical nuclear components for CANDU® nuclear power utilities globally.
What You'll Do
- Operate multiple CNC machines, including 4 and 5 axis mills and lathes, ensuring high precision and quality.
- Design and machine complex tooling and fixtures as necessary for various projects.
- Collaborate with CNC Programmers and Engineers to establish key dimensions and ensure process capability.
- Set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC equipment with minimal supervision.
- Read and interpret technical drawings to ensure conformity with specifications and cycle time requirements.
- Monitor Tool Life Management and implement improvements in machining processes.
- Perform in-process inspections using various measuring tools to maintain quality standards.
- Conduct basic machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist, particularly with 4 and 5 axis CNC mills and multi-axis lathes.
- Educational background in manufacturing or equivalent experience.
- CNC Machinist certification is an asset.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering component drawings.
- Experience in the aerospace, defense, or nuclear industry is a plus.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with lifting devices such as cranes and forklifts.
Nice to Have
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Knowledge of metrology and inspection techniques.
- Previous experience in a remote work environment.
