Bioinformatics Intern - Remote
About the Role
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Bioinformatics Intern - Remote at Arcus Biosciences. This internship is designed for highly motivated individuals who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in computational biology, cancer biology, or related sciences. As a Bioinformatics Intern, you will work closely with your mentor to develop cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and analyze biological datasets that are crucial for oncology drug development.
What You'll Do
- Examine large-scale public resources such as TCGA, GTEx, and DepMap to extract valuable insights.
- Develop robust processing and analysis frameworks across several platforms, including RNA-seq and scRNA-seq.
- Benchmark algorithms and methods to identify best practices for implementation in bioinformatics.
- Evaluate machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) approaches for fit-for-purpose use cases in drug discovery.
- Analyze datasets to identify molecular markers of response relevant to immunotherapy targets.
- Present literature reviews and findings to interdisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in computational biology, cancer biology, or related sciences.
- Fluent in R programming language and familiar with Git for version control.
- Experience in analyzing RNA-seq and scRNA-seq data.
- Familiarity with statistical and/or machine learning methods.
- Experience writing pipelines that abstract several parameters for data processing.
Nice to Have
- Previous internship experience in bioinformatics or related fields.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Python or Java.
- Understanding of oncology and drug discovery processes.
