About the Role

What You'll Do

  • Engage in research on zkEVM technology and its integration into Ethereum.
  • Collaborate with Ethereum Foundation researchers and contributors to explore innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to public-facing materials and discussions within the Ethereum community.
  • Conduct original research relevant to Ethereum, focusing on economic incentives and security for decentralized technologies.
  • Participate in discussions and seminars within the research community.
  • Share findings through academic publications, enhancing your professional portfolio.
  • Attend in-person cohort meetups during the summer to network with peers and mentors.
  • Utilize your skills in computer science, cryptography, mathematics, or economics to contribute effectively to the team.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in computer science, cryptography, mathematics, or economics.
  • Demonstrated interest in Ethereum and decentralized technologies.
  • Exposure to applied cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs (ZK) is a plus.
  • Understanding of computational vs. cryptographic assumptions.
  • Experience with assembly/bytecode literacy.
  • Familiarity with differential testing, fuzzing, or formal verification.
  • Previous contributions to any codebase.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in conducting original research.
  • Interest in blockchain technologies and their applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
