Banking and Payments Assistant - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Banking and Payments Assistant to join our Finance team at Nisbets. This remote banking and payments assistant role is crucial for ensuring the timely and accurate processing of bank transactions, payments, and reconciliations across multiple entities. You will have the flexibility to work from home as part of a hybrid working pattern following a training period.

What You'll Do

• Ensure timely and accurate posting of customer payments, investigating queries as needed.
• Regularly review suspense accounts to minimize unallocated payments.
• Support the Credit Control team with account allocations and payment queries.
• Complete daily and weekly reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances.
• Process journals and paylists for suppliers, including urgent ad-hoc payments.
• Maintain bank statements and account records, ensuring daily reconciliation.
• Reconcile payments received across multiple providers and resolve related queries.
• Assist with month-end tasks within required deadlines.
• Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Participate in projects as required.

Requirements

• Good general education, including Maths and English (GCSE standard).
• Previous experience in a similar banking or payments role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to analyze large data sets accurately.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
• Studying AAT or a desire to do so.
• Tenacious problem-solving abilities.
• Understanding of excellent customer service standards.

Nice to Have

• Experience with financial software.
• Knowledge of banking regulations.
• Familiarity with payment processing systems.
