Utility Worker - Remote Opportunity in Facility Maintenance

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Utility Worker remote to join our team at Metro Waste Authority. In this role, you will perform routine facility maintenance work and operate a variety of equipment to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment across our facilities. This position primarily involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions, requiring knowledge of light and medium equipment operation, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.

What You'll Do

• Establish traffic flow and rotation for commercial, residential, and private haulers in the disposal of solid waste materials.
• Clean up debris and litter using physical labor and operate specialized equipment for litter control.
• Use basic shop tools for maintenance of the worksite and equipment.
• Lubricate, maintain, and perform minor mechanical repairs on equipment.
• Operate various machinery including farm tractors, lawn care equipment, and mini excavators to maintain the site.
• Perform routine inspections and cleanup to ensure litter is picked up.
• Adhere to recordkeeping requirements including litter logs and magnet logs.
• Provide excellent customer service according to MWA standards.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• 2-4 years of experience in general labor, groundskeeping, or related work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic recordkeeping skills.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and PPE usage.

Nice to Have

• Previous welding experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Class A CDL with air brake endorsement.
