Technical Manager - Food Safety & Quality (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Manager to join our team at apetito, a leading food supplier in the UK. This Technical Manager remote position offers a unique opportunity to lead food safety and quality initiatives during a significant expansion phase. As the successful candidate, you will oversee the operational phase of our new kitchen facility, ensuring compliance with food safety standards and quality management systems.

What You'll Do

• Lead the Kitchen West Quality and Food Safety Auditing team, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of food safety.
• Oversee process control, validation, HACCP, and related systems to maintain compliance.
• Provide training and support to team members and colleagues on food safety practices.
• Conduct internal and third-party audits, ensuring compliance with BRCGS Global Standards for Food Safety.
• Minimize held materials and finished stock, optimizing operational efficiency.
• Prepare and present monthly reports related to key accountabilities and KPIs.
• Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and external personnel to enhance operational performance.
• Manage pest control and provide cover for the Group Technical Manager as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality Manager, Assistant Technical Manager, or Technical Manager role.
• A degree related to food safety or quality management.
• Strong understanding of BRCGS Global Standards for Food Safety and related regulations.
• Experience in creating and improving HACCP-based quality management systems.
• Certification to conduct internal audits and host third-party audits.
• Ability to manage food allergen and microbiological risks effectively.
• Proficiency in digitalized quality systems and common office software.
• Experience in mentoring and developing team members to maximize their potential.

Nice to Have

• Experience in setting KPIs and using SAP.
• Background in a complex ready meals business or similar environment.
