About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Engineering Lead for Data & AI Infrastructure to join our team at Airwallex. This is a unique opportunity to work remotely while leading a talented group of engineers in Singapore. You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our data infrastructure, empowering our engineering teams with the tools they need to succeed.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of engineers based in Singapore.
  • Design and implement a robust and scalable data infrastructure tailored to meet different needs of the engineering team.
  • Develop scalable software applications and systems that provide strong self-service capabilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and quality assurance to ensure software aligns with quality standards.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting for deployed software, implementing updates and enhancements.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate development and improve quality.
  • Proactively identify and solve ambiguous problems across data and platform domains.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment and timely delivery.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitOps.
  • Prior experience with data streaming platforms such as Kafka, Flink, or Spark.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one programming language, preferably Python, Golang, or Java.
  • Previous experience in leading and mentoring a team of engineers.
  • Strong proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience using AI tools to augment engineering workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a FinTech environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards.
