About the Role

We're hiring a Sous Chef to join our team at Tarantino Properties. This Sous Chef remote position offers a unique opportunity to oversee culinary operations while ensuring the highest quality food products are served at our Lewisville Estates Senior Living Community. You will work closely with the Director of Dining Services to maintain exceptional standards in meal presentation and portion control.

What You'll Do

  • Produce and oversee breakfast, lunch, and dinner services, ensuring quality assurance of meal presentation and portion control.
  • Prepare and coordinate all meals from standardized recipes, assisting in the development of menus and recipes.
  • Participate in pre-meal meetings with food servers to review daily menu details.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is in working order and maintained in a clean state at all times.
  • Oversee the proper inventory, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals, ensuring compliance with health department policies.
  • Assist in training and scheduling culinary staff to maintain adequate coverage during shifts.
  • Coordinate and execute special events, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and compliance with health codes.
  • Implement waste reduction strategies and apply appropriate loss prevention procedures.

Requirements

  • One to two years of related experience and/or training in culinary management.
  • SERV-SAFE Certified or equivalent certification is required.
  • Must obtain and hold any local, state, and/or county required food handling/sanitation licenses and/or certificates.
  • Experience in menu planning and food ordering is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.

  • Experience in a senior living or healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of dietary restrictions and special dietary needs.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
