About the Role

We're hiring a Software Engineer - Observability to join our dynamic team at Ivanti. This Software Engineer - Observability remote position is crucial for developing and maintaining observability solutions that enhance our cloud-scale platform. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our products meet the evolving needs of our customers and achieve business objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in the implementation of observability solutions, focusing on monitoring, logging, and tracing.
  • Deploy and manage observability tools such as Azure Application Insights, New Relic, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Support distributed tracing and telemetry by working with OpenTelemetry to collect and export telemetry data.
  • Optimize logging and metrics collection to improve system performance monitoring.
  • Help build and refine alerting mechanisms to enhance MTTR (Mean Time to Resolution) and reduce false positives.
  • Contribute to scalable monitoring solutions for AWS and Azure environments.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to integrate observability best practices into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Document and share knowledge through runbooks, dashboards, and best practice guides.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in observability, monitoring, or DevOps-related roles.
  • Basic experience with monitoring tools such as Azure AppInsights, New Relic, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Understanding of OpenTelemetry and APM for telemetry data collection.
  • Familiarity with AWS and Azure cloud environments.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes and container monitoring.
  • Good scripting knowledge in Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
  • Understanding of SLIs, SLOs, and incident management concepts.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United Kingdom and reside in Scotland.

Nice to Have

  • Mid-advanced Python programming experience.
  • Familiarity with AIOps and predictive analytics for monitoring.
  • Basic knowledge of log aggregation pipelines and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with Azure, AKS, and Azure Application Insights for telemetry and performance monitoring.
  • Certifications in observability tools or cloud platforms (Azure certifications).
