About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Community Support Engineering team in a remote capacity. This role is pivotal in enhancing the support experience for Airbnb's global community. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in backend development, API design, and cloud infrastructure to build robust systems that directly impact user satisfaction and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that support community engagement and incident response.
• Implement observability practices to enhance system reliability and performance.
• Lead technical discussions and project planning sessions to align engineering efforts with product strategy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning and anti-fraud technologies into our systems.
• Utilize your knowledge of Java, Kotlin, and Python to develop high-quality software solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Participate in incident response efforts and drive post-mortem analysis to improve system resilience.
• Contribute to the development of service-oriented architecture and real-time systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a focus on backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and Python.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with API development and service-oriented architecture.
• Proven track record in project leadership and technical mentorship.
• Knowledge of machine learning and data modeling is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with C++ and GO programming languages.
• Familiarity with SaaS support and cloud management.
