Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure /​ SRE

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure / SRE to join our innovative team at Oscar. This remote position is open to candidates residing in North America. At Oscar, we are committed to transforming health insurance through technology, and as a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining our cloud infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Become the expert on your team's business and technical domains such as DevOps, site reliability, and cloud best practices.
• Lead the planning, execution, and release of complex technical projects across multiple teams outside of Core Technology.
• Collaborate with partners, product managers, and designers to solve challenging problems.
• Mentor and guide engineers on the team to improve technology and apply best practices.
• Take responsibility for large or complex technology capabilities within your team's domain or spanning multiple domains.
• Facilitate and enhance cross-team execution and collaboration, actively mitigating risks to deliver projects on time.
• Drive prioritization of the technical roadmap and influence prioritization of product roadmap and process enhancements within your team.
• Identify and reduce failure domains, design and build resilient systems, and minimize adverse effects during outages.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong track record of impactful accomplishments.
• Experience as a major contributor to cross-pod or cross-company deliverables.
• Proven leadership in technical contributions, improving the quality of team outputs, and building fault-tolerant, scalable software systems.
• Expertise in applying computer science concepts effectively within your team.
• Experience mentoring and training junior engineers.

Nice to Have

• Deep expertise in managing production environments within AWS or GCP at scale.
• Advanced experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Proven track record with Kubernetes and workflows using ArgoCD.
• Strong background in Site Reliability Engineering, including Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and incident management.
• Proficiency with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
