Senior Data Scientist - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our innovative team at WebstaurantStore, the world’s largest online restaurant supply company. This Senior Data Scientist remote position offers you the chance to leverage your expertise in data science to drive actionable insights and optimize our business performance. You will play a critical role in advising on analysis and modeling techniques, selecting the best fit for complex data, and developing custom analytics models that unlock competitive advantages for our organization.

What You'll Do

• Advise on analysis and modeling techniques, ensuring the best methodologies are applied to both structured and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with analytics engineers to gather essential information from various sources to implement advanced statistical methodologies.
• Conduct exploratory analysis, including hypothesis testing and statistical inference, to derive valuable insights.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex retail problems into effective data science solutions.
• Develop processes and tools to monitor and continuously improve model performance and data accuracy.
• Work with fellow data scientists to design and implement experiments, deriving actionable insights from experimental analyses.
• Defend and explain the validity of predictive models to non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay updated on new tools and technologies, actively researching analytics news and best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Data Science or a PhD in a related field such as math, statistics, or economics.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with a proven ability in statistical methods and advanced modeling techniques.
• Experience with eCommerce search, recommendation engines, dynamic pricing, or user matching/data cleanrooms is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas simply and confidently.
• A self-motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, constantly seeking to add value and improve processes.
• Familiarity with various supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning methods.
• Demonstrable portfolio of machine learning projects, including GitHub repositories or Kaggle competitions.
• Ability to connect data science theories and methodologies to derive fit-for-purpose solutions.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a full-stack data science role, developing, experimenting, optimizing, and scaling models for production environments.
