What You'll Do
- Lead the Datastore Infrastructure (DSI) team in managing and optimizing databases such as MySQL, Aurora, and DynamoDB.
- Oversee message queues (RabbitMQ), streaming technologies (Kafka), and caching systems (Redis, Memcache) to ensure high availability and performance.
- Implement strategies for uptime, security, compliance, and observability across all datastore services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Product, Design, and Engineering to drive innovation and improve developer productivity.
- Develop and execute engineering strategies that align with Udemy's mission to transform lives through learning.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Analyze system performance metrics and implement enhancements to support future growth.
- Engage in problem-solving and troubleshooting to address complex technical challenges.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, with a strong focus on database management and infrastructure.
- Expertise in MySQL, Aurora, DynamoDB, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis, and Memcache.
- 5+ years of experience in a lead role, demonstrating strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and services, particularly in AWS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for innovation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.
