About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Relief Staff member to join our team at Compass Housing Alliance. This Relief Staff position is essential for providing direct services and engagement to individuals experiencing homelessness in supportive programs. As a Relief Staff member, you will fill in for regularly scheduled employees who are sick or on vacation, ensuring that our services continue seamlessly. This role requires a commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and working in various locations across the Puget Sound area.

What You'll Do

  • Provide trauma-informed monitoring of activities to ensure the safety and comfort of guests, residents, and staff.
  • Mediate conflicts and provide de-escalation and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Assist in program activities, including meal services and engaging guests in various tasks.
  • Respond to guest issues and report building needs to management.
  • Monitor security cameras and conduct periodic security rounds.
  • Log all actions and incidents, reporting unusual matters to the Program Coordinator.
  • Control access to the building and enforce rules and restrictions.
  • Follow safety and emergency procedures according to agency policies.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and understand English fluently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in de-escalation and crisis intervention.
  • Experience in a social or human service setting is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with issues of housing instability and mental health.
  • Current WA State Food Handlers Permit is preferred.

  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Training in compassion and meeting people where they are.
  • A degree in a related field.
