About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Preschool Aide to join our team at St. Therese Academy in San Diego. This part-time role offers an opportunity to support early childhood education in a nurturing environment. As a Preschool Aide, you will assist teachers with classroom preparations, supervise students, and provide essential support to ensure a safe and engaging learning atmosphere.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare materials and supplies for daily classroom activities and set up equipment for lessons.
  • Assist with general housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe classroom environment.
  • Supervise students during lunch, snack, and recess, ensuring their safety and engagement.
  • Recognize student needs and provide appropriate solutions during naptime and playtime.
  • Comply with California state and county codes, as well as licensing regulations.
  • Attend professional development trainings and school functions as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the lead teacher or director to support the preschool program.

Requirements

  • Active, practicing Roman Catholic preferred, with an understanding of Catholic school philosophy.
  • Completion of 12 or more Early Childhood Education (ECE) Units is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to understand early childhood development and learning progressions.
  • Capability to solve problems and provide solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a preschool or early childhood education setting.
  • Knowledge of classroom management techniques.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
