About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Fellow for the Rural Health Equity Hub, a new initiative at Duke University School of Nursing. This role offers the opportunity to engage in impactful research and contribute to reducing health inequities in rural communities. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will work collaboratively with a diverse team to develop and evaluate innovative health solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct mentored research focusing on chronic disease prevention and management in rural North Carolina.
  • Deepen partnerships with local health departments and community organizations to enhance health outcomes.
  • Translate research findings into actionable guidance for clinical practice and policy stakeholders.
  • Participate in design thinking workshops and lead Hub-supported research activities.
  • Devote 70% of your time to Center efforts and 30% to your own research projects.
  • Receive training in community-engaged research and interdisciplinary team science.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent doctorate in Nursing, Biomedical Engineering, Public Health, Sociology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in community-engaged research and quantitative or qualitative research methods.
  • Strong commitment to equity-driven, patient-centered research.
  • Excellent planning, management, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with large datasets and statistical modeling.
  • Familiarity with digital health tools and health innovation.
  • Strong communication skills for diverse audiences.
