Outreach Specialist - Remote Position for Legal Aid

About the Role

Maryland Legal Aid (MLA) is seeking an Outreach Specialist to join our team in a remote capacity. This role is essential in advocating for Marylanders experiencing poverty and achieving equity through community collaboration and outreach initiatives. As an Outreach Specialist, you will engage with low-income communities, develop strategic relationships, and foster collaborations that amplify the voices of economically disadvantaged Marylanders.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to further outreach objectives.
• Strategize and execute outreach activities focused on housing justice and community lawyering.
• Analyze internal and external data to develop high-impact outreach strategies.
• Collaborate with community organizations and service providers to enhance outreach efforts.
• Participate in community-based meetings and activities to promote MLA's mission.
• Contribute to programmatic reporting by providing quantitative and qualitative data.

Requirements

• Experience in community outreach, grassroots organizing, or housing policy.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse populations.
• Demonstrated experience in public speaking and facilitating meetings.
• Ability to work independently and maintain consistent reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the non-profit legal services field.
• Fluency in a language other than English.
• Prior project management experience.
