Moderate Writer Intern - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Moderate Writer Intern - Remote to join our team at Our National Conversation (ONC). This internship is a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission of providing nonpartisan news, opinions, and policy solutions. As a Moderate Writer Intern, you will focus on writing political content, including OpEds and Policy Proposals, ensuring diverse perspectives and fostering civil debate.

What You'll Do

• Write high-quality political content for ONC's website, contributing to our Core Content Department.
• Collaborate with a team of writers in a nonpartisan environment, sharing ideas and insights.
• Participate in podcasts and events to engage with our audience and enhance your writing portfolio.
• Ensure diverse content representation, reflecting a variety of political perspectives.
• Commit to the internship until at least the end of the Fall semester.
• Submit a writing sample with your application to showcase your writing skills.
• Work primarily over Zoom and Slack, utilizing modern communication tools.
• Engage in civil dialogue with diverse political perspectives, promoting respectful discussions.
• Meet weekly with the Core Content Department to discuss progress and receive feedback.

Requirements

• Pursuing a degree in Political Science, Journalism, English, or related fields.
• Exceptional writing skills in English, with a strong command of grammar and style.
• Proficient verbal communication skills, able to articulate ideas clearly.
• Experience in policy research or political commentary is preferred.
• Ability to work remotely and meet deadlines consistently.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace is a plus.
• Must attend mandatory meetings and engage actively with the team.
• Authorized to intern in the U.S.
