About the Role

We are seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Designer to join our team at Kiewit. This Mechanical Designer remote position is an exciting opportunity for those with 3 to 10 years of mechanical design experience. As a key member of our Kiewit Industrial Engineering team, you will work on a variety of projects, including data centers and wastewater treatment facilities, utilizing tools such as SmartPlant and REVIT.

What You'll Do

  • Utilize SmartPlant 3D to create detailed 3D equipment models and mechanical layouts.
  • Design mechanical systems and piping, generating isometric drawings for various industrial facilities.
  • Perform early project design work related to facility layout and equipment general arrangement.
  • Develop and check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards.
  • Support the construction team by representing the design team on-site and answering RFIs.
  • Coordinate with internal and external design partners to ensure project success.
  • Develop schedules and staffing requirements for successful project completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology or related field preferred.
  • 3 to 10 years of mechanical design experience, specifically in industrial settings.
  • Proficiency in 3D design software such as SmartPlant3D, AutoCAD, or REVIT.
  • Knowledge of piping design standards and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with mechanical design for data centers and chilled water systems.
  • Familiarity with drafting P&IDs and schematics.
  • Experience in project management and scheduling.
