About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager & Product Owner to join the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT). This IT Project Manager & Product Owner remote position is essential for coordinating and managing technology initiatives that align with our agency's goals. You will be responsible for overseeing projects from concept through delivery, ensuring compliance with standards and delivering business value. What You'll Do

  • Coordinate and manage low to medium complexity technology initiative projects.
  • Apply project management principles and methodologies defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Ensure alignment with agency goals and compliance with standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Utilize project management software tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, and Smartsheet.
  • Facilitate communication between project teams and business units to ensure project success.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.
  • Provide regular updates to the Portfolio Manager and stakeholders on project status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, or a related field.
  • 4 years of project management or business analysis experience.
  • Familiarity with project management software tools and methodologies.
  • Understanding of technical development activities including SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with diverse teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in government or public sector project management.
  • Certifications such as PMP or Agile certifications.
  • Knowledge of state government processes and regulations.
