About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Specialist to join the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO) team. This Housing Specialist remote position offers a unique opportunity to support immigrants and refugees in achieving housing stability in Portland, Oregon. As a Housing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in empowering low-income households to reach their self-sufficiency goals.

What You'll Do

  • Assess potential client program eligibility and meet individually with clients to help them define and work towards their housing goals.
  • Provide case management services, assisting participants with paperwork and case notes related to rental funds.
  • Maintain case files and enter data into Multnomah County’s Service Point data system.
  • Distribute assistance funds to clients' landlords or utility companies.
  • Refer clients to other sources of assistance to help them achieve their goals.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and committees to support the Housing Stability Program.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle for transportation to various locations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse personality types.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience in case management or social services is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee populations.
  • Knowledge of housing resources and programs in Clackamas County.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate clients' needs.
