Ganger - Powercare (Remote Opportunity)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Ganger to join our Powercare team at UK Power Networks. This position offers a unique opportunity to work remotely while being a vital part of our operations in the Colchester area. As a Ganger, you will report to the Field Staff Supervisor and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our network operations. You will be a permanent employee, earning a competitive salary of £40,225 per annum plus a bonus of 3%. What You'll Do

• Lead excavation, backfill, and reinstatement works on faults and unmetered connections.
• Conduct risk assessments and maintain safe working practices in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Operate handheld IT equipment to receive job instructions and record site information effectively.
• Ensure quality of work meets current procedures and guaranteed service standards.
• Secure vehicles, tools, plant, and equipment during operations.
• Work independently or as part of a two-person excavation team, demonstrating leadership skills.
• Act as an ambassador for UK Power Networks, promoting safety and efficiency.
• Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota as required.

Requirements

• NRSWA Units 001-009 certification.
• Full UK Driving Licence and Towing Licence.
• Machine Operator ticket and CSCS Operatives card.
• Emergency First Aid certification.
• Experience working on the electricity network.
• Ability to perform excavation tasks safely and efficiently.
• Willingness to travel within the SPN and LPN footprint of UK Power Networks.
• Strong commitment to health and safety practices.

Nice to Have

• Trench Support (deep excavation) qualification.
• Moling qualification.
• Abrasive Wheel certification.
• LV Support Person experience.
• Sub-Station Entry certification.
• Dumper Driver experience.
