About the Role

We are seeking a Freelance News Editor - Movies Remote to join our dynamic team at ScreenRant, the leading entertainment website. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and editing movie news, ensuring timely and engaging content for our audience.

What You'll Do

Source news in a timely manner to keep our audience informed.
Add news titles and sources to Asana for writers to claim.
Understand what makes a compelling news title and angle.
Make judgments on flash news versus features and regular news.
Ensure news quotas are met and know when to overrun.
Assign news articles and maintain communication with writers.
Edit news articles with a focus on timely updates.
Prepare soft or niche news for weekends.
Provide constructive feedback and development to writers.
Write news articles as needed, particularly for breaking news.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field.
2 years of experience in producing entertainment content.
In-depth familiarity with the entertainment industry, especially movie news.
Experience with SEO practices to enhance content visibility.
Experience with a custom CMS is preferred.

Nice to Have

Previous experience working in a fast-paced news environment.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with writers.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
