Certified Peer Counselor - Remote Support Role
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Peer Counselor to join our team remotely. In this role, you will provide essential peer support, guidance, and advocacy for residents, helping them navigate their recovery journeys. As a Certified Peer Counselor, you will play a crucial role in fostering a supportive environment for individuals in need.
What You'll Do
- Conduct regular facility rounds, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Monitor and observe residents’ behavior to prevent disturbances and report any concerning behavior to the Charge Nurse.
- Assist residents in developing weekly goals and provide 1:1 support to address ongoing program concerns.
- Share your own recovery story to motivate and inspire residents in their recovery process.
- Facilitate educational groups and participate in resident Treatment Teams as requested.
- Provide resource information and referrals to help residents build community support systems.
- Accurately document interactions and progress in ECP using the DIP method.
- Transport individuals to appointments or outings as directed, following safety protocols.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) Certificate in Washington State.
- Completion of educational requirements as defined in WAC 182-538D-0200.
- Valid Food Handlers Permit and Washington State Driver’s License required.
- Must demonstrate flexible time management and the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
- Must be in recovery and willing to share your recovery journey with residents.
- Ability to read and interpret scientific and technical information relevant to the role.
- Proficient in English with strong communication skills.
- Physical ability to perform essential functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a medical or residential setting.
- Knowledge of community resources for recovery support.
- Previous experience facilitating educational or support groups.
