About the Role

We are seeking a Business Data Scientist II to join our Lifecycle Marketing team at WHOOP. This remote position focuses on building statistical and machine learning models that drive member acquisition, engagement, retention, and upselling. As a Business Data Scientist II remote, you will tackle ambiguous marketing problems and design MVP models to quickly test and refine them, contributing to WHOOP's mission of unlocking human performance and healthspan.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and scope opportunities where data science can drive member acquisition, engagement, retention, and upsell.
  • Build, validate, and iterate on statistical and machine learning models to solve core marketing problems.
  • Drive novel model ideation and development, rapidly prototyping MVPs locally for testing and iteration.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers and ML Ops to deploy robust inference models into production.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate experiments that inform product and business strategy.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies in AI, machine learning, and experimentation.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in a data science role, ideally in consumer tech, e-commerce, or subscription-based businesses.
  • Strong statistical modeling and machine learning background.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with experimentation frameworks such as A/B testing and multi-armed bandits.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate business problems into data science approaches.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a startup environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools.
