Backend Engineer - Events Team (Remote)

About the Role

Zapier is hiring a full-time Backend Engineer for our Events Team, working remotely from the USA or Canada. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building and enhancing our backend systems that power seamless event management across various platforms. As a Backend Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust solutions that improve user experience and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs for event management features.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues in production environments.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer with a focus on building scalable applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Ruby, or Node.js.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, etc.) is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems.
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools.
• Previous experience in a remote work environment.
