Applied AI Engineer - Remote Position at Rillet

About the Role

We are seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join our team at Rillet, where you will play a crucial role in transforming finance and accounting operations. This Applied AI Engineer remote position allows you to work with cutting-edge AI technologies while collaborating with teams across San Francisco, New York City, and Barcelona.

What You'll Do

• Build and ship production AI features across Rillet's ERP platform, including AI agents, structured data extraction, and intelligent automation for accounting workflows.
• Design and maintain the infrastructure powering LLM inference, fine-tuning pipelines, and RAG systems at scale.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to translate complex finance and accounting workflows into AI-driven solutions.
• Develop internal tooling and evaluation frameworks that improve the speed, accuracy, and reliability of Rillet's AI systems.
• Drive continuous improvement of model performance through prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and systematic experimentation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a technical role with a strong foundation in backend systems, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
• 2-3+ years shipping production AI systems, not research or prototypes, with real users and real stakes.
• Hands-on experience with production LLM applications, such as RAG pipelines, agentic systems, or structured extraction.
• Proficiency in Python and comfort working across the full stack to deliver end-to-end features.
• Strong product instincts and a habit of thinking about user impact, not just technical correctness.

Nice to Have

• Experience with financial data systems and ERP solutions.
• Familiarity with AI model evaluation metrics and techniques.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages or frameworks.
