About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Solr to join our dynamic team. This remote position offers the opportunity to design, plan, and develop customer-centric features for our E-Commerce and Multichannel platform. You will take ownership of the entire development process within an agile environment, from architecture design to continuous deployment and maintenance.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with your team to create high-performance search solutions using Apache Solr and related technologies.
  • Drive technical decisions in coordination with stakeholders and establish quality and performance standards.
  • Evaluate complex features considering technical requirements and business impact, balancing technical excellence with economic value.
  • Proactively contribute to knowledge building around search technologies and support team members in their technical development.
  • Implement vector-based search systems and utilize language models for query interpretation.
  • Work with modern web frameworks such as SpringBoot, Rails, or Laravel.
  • Engage in infrastructure work using AWS and Docker container technologies.
  • Mentor team members and foster a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with Apache Solr or similar technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Opensearch).
  • Strong proficiency in at least one object-oriented or functional programming language, preferably Java or Kotlin.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good knowledge of German (minimum B2 level) and English.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with hybrid search approaches.
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching team members.
  • Curiosity about new technologies and willingness to explore unfamiliar areas.
