Senior Software Engineer - Observability and Reliability

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Observability and Reliability to join our growing engineering team at Sigma Computing. In this remote role, you will be instrumental in building and delivering world-class technology that makes data easily accessible. You will collaborate with a talented group of engineers who share a commitment to excellence and innovation.

What You'll Do

• Build observability tools and platforms, including metrics, logging, distributed tracing, dashboarding, alerting, and application performance management.
• Utilize modern tools and languages such as Go, Open Telemetry, and Kubernetes to enhance system reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure uptime of services and maintain high availability.
• Create runtime tools and processes that optimize cloud triaging and limit downtime.
• Define best practices for making our systems and services measurable and reliable.
• Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices.
• Spend the majority of your time coding and contributing to high-quality software.

Requirements

• Strong Computer Science fundamentals with 5+ years of industry experience in building and maintaining high-quality software.
• Experience in applying a product mindset to infrastructure systems.
• A desire to be a great teammate and contribute positively to the work environment.
• A strong sense of craftsmanship and a healthy academic curiosity.
• Experience with distributed systems monitoring and profiling.
• Knowledge of cloud application security models and experience administering cloud service infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Startup experience is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience building systems for data analytics.
• Familiarity with observability tools and platforms.
• Knowledge of modern software development practices.
