About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Service Designer to join our team at Methods, where you will play a crucial role in transforming the public sector through innovative service design. This Senior Service Designer remote position offers a hybrid work model, allowing you to balance onsite client work with remote flexibility.

What You'll Do

  • Identify and develop best practices and standards to design services consistent with government requirements.
  • Advocate for users by understanding their needs to create simple, effective, and accessible services.
  • Create service maps, blueprints, and other design concepts to visualize user journeys and processes.
  • Articulate and solve complex design problems, ensuring a user-centered approach.
  • Communicate design concepts effectively to users and stakeholders, using persuasive storytelling.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, sharing design work and participating in research activities.
  • Support and mentor junior team members in the service design community.
  • Contribute to project support and guidance, enhancing the overall design quality.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable passion for service design with proven experience in user-centered design.
  • Ability to communicate abstract concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with technology constraints in design processes.
  • Proficient in running workshops and facilitating collaborative design sessions.
  • Experience in agile environments and contributing to prototype design.
  • Familiarity with the GDS/GOV.UK style guide and service design standards.
