Senior Network Engineer - Remote Opportunity for Boston Area

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Network Engineer remote to join our dynamic team at Blue Mantis. This role is ideal for candidates located in the Boston or Quincy, MA area, as you will be required to be on-site 1-2 days a week. You will play a critical role in supporting a large and important customer environment while also lending your expertise to a diverse portfolio of smaller customers. Your deep knowledge of networking technologies, including Cisco, HPE, and Dell switches, as well as SonicWall, Fortinet, Meraki, and Palo Alto firewalls, will be essential in managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing mission-critical networks.

What You'll Do

  • Lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Perform proactive network maintenance, including firmware updates, patches, and upgrades across all network devices.
  • Monitor network health and performance, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical diagrams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of network services.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 network support when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in network engineering roles, focusing on enterprise-scale environments.
  • Expertise in switching and routing, particularly with Cisco, HP, and Dell switches.
  • Hands-on experience with SonicWALL, Fortinet, Meraki, and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Proficiency with physical and virtual F5 load balancers, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience supporting municipal environments and SLED (State, Local, and Education) sector expertise.
