Senior Employment Counsel - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to join our team in a remote capacity. This role is pivotal in providing legal guidance and support across Human Resources, Ethics & Compliance, and OSHA/RMP regulatory matters. As a trusted advisor to HR leadership and business partners, you will ensure compliance with all labor and employment laws, government regulations, safety standards, and internal policies.

What You'll Do

  • Provide comprehensive legal support for employment-related issues, including performance management, discrimination concerns, and employee relations.
  • Ensure compliance with employee benefits and ERISA regulations.
  • Serve on various committees, advising on labor and employment issues.
  • Draft severance and separation agreements, and review HR service provider contracts.
  • Represent the company in EEOC and labor arbitrations, ensuring the company's interests are protected.
  • Oversee the Ethics & Compliance Program, managing the corporate hotline and leading internal investigations.
  • Provide legal advice on OSHA, EPA, RMP, and related safety regulations.
  • Support M&A transactions with labor and employment legal guidance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in employment law, labor, compliance, and regulatory matters.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the Bar of a US State.
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Strong judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in handling investigations, arbitrations, and regulatory matters.
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • OSHA experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience partnering with HR and senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of ERISA and EEOC processes.
