About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join our team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). This Senior Database Administrator remote position will support our database administration activities, managing the infrastructure that underpins multiple program applications. What You'll Do

  • Support internal transition towards data virtualization and analytics using tools like Denodo and Databricks.
  • Provide database administration for Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB databases.
  • Conduct technical analysis on database management system designs and architectures.
  • Guide migration to cloud-based database PaaS services and containerization.
  • Create and maintain non-production database environments for development and QA activities.
  • Optimize database data models and enhance database cybersecurity posture.
  • Assist with enterprise application implementation and resolve issues from infrastructure changes.
  • Design and maintain database access through account management and data encryption.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Significant experience in database services automation and orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience with data virtualization and analytics platforms.
  • Advanced skills in administering application servers like WebLogic and Tomcat.
  • Multi-year experience in Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Experience with UNIX and Windows OS administration.
  • Familiarity with observability tools for proactive monitoring.
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration and report writing.

Nice to Have

  • MS degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with Ansible, SCCM, and Python for automation.
  • Knowledge of containerization for database services.
