Safety Case Engineer - Remote Opportunities in Nuclear Sector

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Case Engineer to join our team at Vulcain Engineering. This remote Safety Case Engineer position focuses on ensuring compliance with nuclear safety case requirements, particularly on the Sizewell C project. You will act as a vital link between engineering teams and safety case authors, ensuring that all technical changes are properly assessed and integrated.

What You'll Do

• Support the development and maintenance of the Sizewell C Safety Case in accordance with nuclear site licence conditions.
• Act as the interface between site delivery teams and the central safety case function, ensuring technical changes are understood and controlled.
• Coordinate the review and approval process for safety case changes, ensuring timely escalation where formal approval is required.
• Provide expert input into the technical integration of engineering modifications, ensuring safety case impacts are identified and managed.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to support compliance with Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) expectations.
• Maintain clear documentation of changes and justifications.
• Promote a strong nuclear safety culture across project teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in nuclear safety case development within a licensed nuclear facility.
• Strong understanding of nuclear licence conditions and safety documentation.
• Experience coordinating across multiple technical disciplines.
• Familiarity with engineering change control and safety justification processes.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable.
• Willingness to relocate to Leiston, Suffolk.

Nice to Have

• Experience with UK new build nuclear projects.
• Knowledge of safety case management processes.
• Experience in liaising with regulatory bodies.
