Remote Director of Tax Operations - Lead Global Tax Strategy

About the Role

Join Whatnot as a Remote Director of Tax Operations and lead our global tax strategy! This pivotal role involves overseeing the execution and development of both U.S. and foreign income tax provisions and compliance processes. As a key player in our finance team, you will work closely with internal partners to optimize tax flows and minimize risks. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of tax operations in a rapidly growing e-commerce platform.

What You'll Do

• Own the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions in compliance with ASC 740, FIN 18, IFRS, and other related standards.
• Manage all aspects of global income tax reporting, including deferred tax assets/liabilities and effective tax rate calculations.
• Oversee forecast modeling for future effective tax rates and cash taxes in collaboration with FP&A.
• Drive R&D tax credit studies and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Lead tax aspects of M&A and other strategic transactions, including due diligence and integration planning.
• Own global transfer pricing strategy and compliance, including intercompany agreements and documentation.
• Monitor and analyze legislative changes to assess their impact on tax positions and financial statements.
• Represent the tax team in discussions with external auditors and relevant authorities.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive tax experience, with expertise in ASC 740, R&D tax credits, and transfer pricing.
• Background in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and corporate income tax in a multinational technology company.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or MST strongly preferred.
• Expert-level knowledge of U.S. GAAP and international tax principles.
• Proven track record of process improvement and using tax technology to drive efficiencies.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive results in a rapidly changing environment.
