About the Role

We are seeking a passionate NixOS Backend Engineer to join our team at Helsing. This NixOS Backend Engineer remote position is an exciting opportunity to work in a cutting-edge AI defense company dedicated to protecting democracies. What You'll Do

  • Package software for Nix and set up Nix development environments.
  • Configure and administer our backend NixOS infrastructure.
  • Upstream fixes and software back to Nixpkgs.
  • Utilize your knowledge of GNU/Linux and the surrounding ecosystem.
  • Implement metrics tooling such as Prometheus and Grafana.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of GNU/Linux and NixOS.
  • Hands-on experience with configuring and administering NixOS servers.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, including IP, TCP, UDP, and TLS.
  • Experience with Rust development.
  • Knowledge of application-layer security engineering.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CppNix, Lix, or DetNix development.
  • Knowledge of macOS system development.
  • Experience with cloud-native application architectures.
