About the Role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer remote to join our innovative team at Nevados. As a leader in solar tracker technology, you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge solutions that optimize solar performance and enhance plant reliability. This hybrid position allows you to work remotely while also collaborating with our team in Oakland, California.

What You'll Do

  • Lead mechanical design work from concept to production for solar tracker components.
  • Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models, 2D drawings, and release-ready documentation.
  • Perform structural FEA and design parts using DFM/DFA practices for various manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and develop concepts.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
  • Support investigations of production and field issues, performing root-cause analysis.
  • Create and maintain installation instructions and training materials for field deployment.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for modeling and FEA.
  • Strong DFM experience for sheet metal components and familiarity with injection molding.
  • Hands-on prototyping experience and comfort using fundamental hand tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with PLM systems, preferably Arena.
  • Background in solar, renewables, or outdoor electromechanical products.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
