About the Role
Join Kiva as a U.S. Operations Intern - Remote and play a vital role in supporting our mission to expand financial access for underserved communities. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit and microfinance sectors while working remotely from the United States.
What You'll Do
- Support the U.S. Operations team with loan management and borrower support, ensuring efficient processes and positive outcomes.
- Engage in process improvements and project-based work to enhance operational efficiency.
- Gain exposure to microfinance concepts and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with various teams to enhance the borrower experience through innovative solutions.
- Participate in educational workshops and networking opportunities to expand your knowledge and connections.
- Work independently and proactively, demonstrating strong critical thinking and attention to detail.
- Utilize intermediate skills in Google Docs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to complete tasks effectively.
- Enjoy problem-solving and relationship-building in a dynamic start-up environment.
Requirements
- Must commit to the full internship period of 6 months, working 24 - 32 hours per week.
- Open to applicants authorized to work in the U.S. and at least 21 years of age by January 13, 2026.
- Strong critical thinking and attention to detail are essential for this role.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication to effectively engage with stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, adapting to the fast-paced nature of a startup.
- Intermediate skills in Google Docs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.
- Enjoy problem-solving and relationship-building with a focus on enhancing the borrower experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience in nonprofit organizations or microfinance is a plus.
- Familiarity with loan management systems or borrower support processes.
